As Japanese carriers love to do, NTT DOCOMO just dropped a huge release of Android devices for the holiday season with 9 smartphones and a tablet. The headline phones that are bound to draw the biggest attention and sales are part of its "next" line, which includes the Samsung Galaxy SIII (S3) and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The devices physically look very similar to their European and North American counterparts, but as is usually the case the software is a bit tweaked for the Japanese market.
As far as hardware specs go, they're very similar as well. We're looking at the same Super AMOLED 720x1280 screens at either 4.8 or 5.5-inches, an Exynos 4412 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 100mbps LTE networking and both are launching with Android 4.1 on board. One thing found on the Japanese models that you won't really see anywhere else is the One-Seg digital TV antenna -- a staple on Japanese devices.
The Galaxy Note 2 will be launching in November, with the Galaxy S3 to follow in December. More pricing information for these devices and the rest of the expansive DOCOMO lineup -- we recommend taking a look at the sweet Android flip phones -- can be found at the source links below.
